PRESENTER
Margaret Karatzas-LaDuke, MedCurity
I’m a Business Analyst with a deep-rooted passion for advancing healthcare information security. Throughout my career, I’ve taken a proactive approach to navigating the complex landscape of healthcare compliance, focusing on the unique challenges and opportunities faced by large enterprises. Currently, I serve as a Security Officer for a tribal health organization while conducting Security Risk Assessments (SRAs) nationally. My professional journey is driven by a firm belief in strategic risk management as a tool to not only meet HIPAA requirements but to foster organizational excellence and resilience. I take a holistic approach to security risk assessments, evaluating systems and processes to identify vulnerabilities and prioritize threats based on their potential impact. By crafting tailored strategies that align seamlessly with established security frameworks and broader organizational goals, I help organizations strengthen their defenses and build a culture of continuous improvement. In an industry where compliance is non-negotiable, I’ve dedicated my expertise to developing and refining information security policies that not only meet but exceed regulatory requirements. My approach is collaborative, working closely with executive leadership and HIPAA officers to ensure that compliance efforts are integrated, efficient, and effective.
