Meaningful Use: Where is it Going?

The CMS Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive programs known as “Meaningful Use” (MU) are provider entitlement programs created through legislation known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).  Given that penalties for non-adoption cannot be imposed through Medicaid by the federal government and Medicare eligible professionals (EPs) will no longer be subject to penalties after 2018 under the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA), why continue with MU?  Health IT holds the promise of modernized operations for financing improvement, operational efficiency, increased quality and safety, expanded reporting, and compliance, but only if it is used as a true change agent to maximize these benefits and rewards. This session will explain the role health IT will play in healthcare economics under reform.   Join Adele Allison as she examines the state of the industry and how best to position your clinic and patients in our ever changing world through the use of health IT.
