Event Overview
This two-day training provides a practical overview of HIPAA Privacy and Security requirements tailored to community health centers. Topics include:
- Core Privacy Rule principles
- Permitted and authorized uses and disclosures of PH
- Patient rights and Notice of Privacy Practices requirements
- Implementation of administrative, physical, and technical security safeguards
The training also covers cybersecurity risks, HIPAA in emergency/disaster scenarios, business associate management, breach investigation and response, and preparation for Office for Civil Rights (OCR) audits. Participants will review recent regulatory updates, including HIPAA/HITECH enforcement trends, 42 CFR Part 2, and Information Blocking requirements, and explore emerging issues such as the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare. The session emphasizes real-world application, risk mitigation, and integrating privacy and security compliance into daily health center operations, with access to sample policies and procedures.
