Job Summary 


Work directly with medical clinic staff to: maintain patient records, assist in gathering patient vitals and preparation for examination, conduct basic medical procedures including blood draws and vaccines, explain common medical procedures to patients and assist in basic examinations.


 ● Guide patients into exam rooms and prepare them for examination.
● Gather vitals, lab specimens, spirometry, EKG’s, schedule tests and consults by other providers.
● Draw blood samples or administer vaccinations and immunizations.
● Assist provider with the examination when appropriate.
● Maintain computerized patient medical records and proper documentation with confidentiality.
● Answer and return phone calls and handle clinical concerns (regarding lab questions, prescription refills, homecare follow-up, etc.).
● Process incoming specimens in-house, and coordinate pick up of outside labs.
● Assure rooms are stocked and cleaned, and equipment is clean according to provider specifications.
● Complete morning and nightly checklists.

● Complete continuing education, in-service training and technical updates.
● Other duties as assigned.

● High School Diploma or equivalent.
● 1-2 years experience as a Medical Assistant in a health care center, medical office or equivalent is recommended.
● Must be a certified Medical Assistant in the state of Utah or have an equivalent diploma from a qualified program.
● Must be certified in Basic Life Support.
● Preferred, but not required:
● Experience using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems such as USIS, ECW and Help2.

● Skills in technical medical procedures such as blood draws, immunizations, EKG and spirometry.
● Knowledge of lab cleanliness procedures.
● Ability to build interpersonal relationship and deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
● Ability to work effectively in a team.
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
● Ability to be adaptable and flexible.
● Ability to think critically and make effective decisions.
● Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
● Skills in time management and organization.
● Ability to maintain confidentiality.
● Ability to communicate in Spanish.

● Must be able to sit, stand, talk and hear for extended periods of time.
● Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement to type and work on computer.
● General office environment conditions, with moderate noise levels.
● May be exposed to potentially dangerous bodily fluids or hazardous chemicals.

This is a Full-time Position that pays $14.50 to $16.00 depending on experience.
