Marketing and Communications Internship

April 15, 2020

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Dates: May-August 2020

Schedule: During regular business hours, approximately 15-20 hours/week

Organizational Background/Mission:

For over 35 years, the Association for Utah Community Health (AUCH) represented Utah's Health Centers and their patients. As Utah’s Primary Care Association, we provide over 15,000 hours of training and technical assistance to Utah’s 13 health centers awardees and allied health care organizations each year. Our members include federal health center awardees who provide comprehensive, high-quality primary and preventive health care services to all individuals, with or without insurance, regardless of ability to pay. Health centers are community-based, patient-directed organizations that eliminate geographical and financial barriers to care. In support of our members and the communities they serve, AUCH helps reduce barriers to health care through health promotion, community engagement and development, education, and policy analysis.

Overview:

AUCH is looking for a creative, qualified Marketing and Communications Intern to work with our Community Health Services (CHS) division this summer. The CHS division emphasizes direct client service and houses the Utah Healthcare Corps (UHC) and Homeless Health and Wellness (HHW) Programs.

The intern will have the opportunity to create marketing and recruitment materials for the UHC, a program of 20+ Community Health Workers (CHWs), connecting underserved populations to health care and social resources. CHWs are trusted, knowledgeable frontline health personnel who typically come from the communities they serve. CHWs bridge cultural and linguistic barriers, expand access to coverage and care, and improve health outcomes. The intern will assist in promoting our program to partners, funders, and potential members.

Intern responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Developing brief UHC videos to be used for program marketing and recruitment (AUCH will provide necessary equipment and software)
  • Creating HC recruitment materials such as brochures and flyers
  • Curating meaningful content for UHC’s Facebook page
  • Drafting program website content
  • Attending regular planning meetings with CHS and Communications divisions
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Current student or recent graduate, preferably with experience in communications, film, graphic design, and/or other related areas
  • Written and oral fluency in English
  • Good listening, speaking, and writing skills
  • Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and video editing software (Preferably Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid, or Final Cut Pro)
  • Understanding of AP Style and/or business communications
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a group
  • Willingness to take initiative and be pro-active in daily work
  • Must work well with deadlines

A background check will be conducted on all potential candidates. Women, minorities, veterans, and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Reasonable accommodations will be made for those with disabilities.
