Understanding the New Changes to 42 CFR Part 2

PHI regulations protect patient privacy, give you the flexibility to provide the best possible treatment, and help clarify the boundaries in protecting and sharing patient information.

On July 15, 2020, SAMHSA finalized changes to 42 CFR Part 2 ("Part 2"), the regulations for the Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder Patient Records. These changes will go into effect on August 14, 2020.

On Thursday, July 16th at 4:00 PM EST, the Center of Excellence for Protected Health Information will facilitate a free national webinar outlining the recently announced changes to Part 2.

• Describe the recent changes to Part 2 and new guidance from SAMHSA
• Outline the CARES Act changes to the federal SUD privacy law, 42 USC 290dd-2
• Distinguish the difference between recent changes to Part 2 and those forthcoming through the CARES Act
