Family Planning Elevated, a statewide initiative designed to help Utah health centers increase their capacity to provide comprehensive contraceptive care to their communities. We’re pleased to invite applications for membership in the second and third cohorts of our Contraceptive Access Program (FPE CAP).

The Need for FPE CAP: In November 2018, Utah voters passed Proposition 3, a ballot initiative intended to extend Medicaid coverage to all eligible individuals earning less than 138% Federal Poverty Level. During the 2019 General Session, Senate Bill 96 Medicaid Expansion Adjustments was introduced and passed, amending income eligibility to 100% FPL. With this new legislation in effect April 1st, 2019, an estimated 50,000 Utahns have become eligible for Medicaid coverage of all FDA-approved contraceptive methods, including intrauterine devices (IUDs) and implants.

To support this large anticipated increase in coverage and demand for services, Family Planning Elevated is partnering with health centers across the state to train clinicians and staff on comprehensive contraceptive care, as well as build health center capacity to provide contraceptive counseling and services without cost barriers to uninsured and underinsured patients who do not qualify for Medicaid.
