Using Effective Health Education Tools to Improve Your Patient Outcomes

One in five American adults reads at the 5th grade level or below.* Many health center patients have limited reading skills and face other barriers, such as lower levels of education and limited English-language skills. Yet, most health materials are written at 10th grade level or above. As a result, many patients struggle to understand basic health information, treatment and follow-up instructions, and health prevention messages. This negatively impacts patient health outcomes and many other areas of health center performance. In this webinar we will discuss the importance of using effective health education tools to support your education efforts and improve patient outcomes.

Whether you develop materials, select them, or use them to educate your patient population, this webinar is for you. We will discuss how to communicate a clear health education message and how to identify, modify and/or develop easy-to-read health education tools with the goal of improving health prevention behaviors, patient understanding of their condition, and self-care and compliance with provider guidance. An interactive approach will be used and some exemplary health education tools will be showcased.
