AUCH and CHC, INC. Present at University of Utah

March 21, 2019

On Thursday, March 7, 2019, the Association for Utah Community Health (AUCH) was invited by Dr. Bonnie Ronish, pulmonary fellow, to present at the University of Utah Pulmonology Department Grand Rounds: “From the Field: Patients, Health Centers, and Community Health Workers". During the session, AUCH educated participants on caring for patients with complex social needs.

Gerry Marty, CHC Inc. patient and board member, Starr Stratford, AUCH project manager, and Sarah Woolsey, AUCH consulting medical director, spoke about the benefits of Community Health Centers (CHC), support available for patients and families through AUCH’s Community Health Worker program, and shared stories of opportunities to improve patient care.

The session was well-received and sparked dialogue on how specialists can collaborative with CHC care teams to support medication access, educating patients on their health condition(s), and the benefits of a CHC as a medical home. Ms. Marty’s unique perspective as a long-time CHC patient and advocate was especially well-received.

AUCH would like to extend a warm thank you to all presenters and participants!
