Thirteen Utah Health Centers were awarded funding for the quality, efficiency, and value of the healthcare services offered to their communities in a ceremony yesterday at Fourth Street Clinic.
Nick Zucconi, Regional Administrator at Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) was in Salt Lake City on Tuesday to present Fourth Street Clinic with the Health Center Quality Leader Award. According to Zucconi, “Health centers provide affordable, high-quality, comprehensive services that directly impact the overall healthcare system, and Fourth Street Clinic is extremely valuable in meeting the health needs of a uniquely special population.”
Utah’s 13 Health Centers received $911,381 in Quality Improvement awards; three Health Centers—Enterprise Valley Medical Center in Enterprise, Family Healthcare in St. George, and Fourth Street Clinic in Salt Lake City—received the Health Center Quality Leader Award for achieving the best overall clinical performance among the top 30% of all health centers nationwide.
Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski, in attendance at the awards ceremony said, “This is a tremendous honor for our community to be recognized for the quality of the work that [Fourth Street Clinic] does and the lives you’re changing through the work that you do.”
“We are passionate in providing thorough and compassionate care to homeless individuals. While patients often come at a time of crisis or instability, we try to provide care in the moment while focusing on creating continuity of care and long term health outcomes,” said Michelle Goldberg, M.D., Medical Director at the Fourth Street Clinic.
This month The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded $125 million to 1,352 health centers across all U.S. states, territories and the District of Columbia recognizing the highest performing health centers nationwide, as well as health centers that have made significant quality improvement gains from the previous year. These funds build upon their 2017 achievements to continue to improve the quality, efficiency, and the value of healthcare delivery in the communities they serve.
