Extending Thanks to Utah Members of Congress

On March 15, 2018, leaders from CHC, Inc., Family Healthcare, Midtown, Mountainlands, Utah Partners for Health, and the Utah Navajo Health System traveled to Washington D.C. with AUCH’s Executive Director, Alan Pruhs, to meet with members of Utah’s congressional delegation. The goals of the visits were to discuss the incredible work of Health Centers in Utah and thank Utah’s delegation for their support of the Health Center Program. The visits were conducted in conjunction with the annual “Day on the Hill” sponsored by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC).

There was extra reason to say “Thank you” this year in that Congress had just provided two years of funding to the Health Center Program as part of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018. Funding for the Program had lapsed in September 2017, and was officially restored in February 2018.

Utah is fortunate to have strong leadership in Congress who support Health Centers! During the visit to Washington D.C., Senator Orrin Hatch was presented with the 2018 Community Health Leadership Award to recognize his many years of leadership in Congress and his unwavering support of the Health Center Program.  On March 28, Representative Chris Stewart was presented with the 2018 Distinguished Community Health Defender Award in recognition of his support of the Health Center Program. Board members and staff from CHC, Inc.’s Stephen D. Ratcliffe Community Health Center presented the award to Representative Stewart during his visit to Utah.  Congressman Stewart took time to answer questions from Board and staff, and took a tour of their facility.

AUCH wishes to offer our sincere thanks to Utah’s congressional delegation for their continued support of the Health Centers Program!
