Quality Improvement Director

Job Summary:

The Quality Improvement Director is responsible for leading and supervising a diverse team through the development and implementation of data-driven, evidence-based quality improvement projects aligned with the priorities of members and funders. This includes collaboratively supporting project leads with facilitating project development (e.g., assessments, goals and measurement, researching team-based/evidence-based interventions, workflow mapping), monitoring team effectiveness and project success, and communicating with AUCH and health center leadership. The Quality Improvement Director reports directly to the Associate Director and works with a multi-disciplinary team to increase access to and quality of comprehensive health care services within Utah’s health centers. 

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Maintains knowledge of national health care initiatives, regulatory and licensing agency requirements (e.g., patient centered medical home standards, health center program, uniform data system (UDS), value-based care), and other industry trends.
  • Manages assigned personnel including staffing, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Coach staff on data informed team-based/evidence-based care options to assist in driving process improvement at Utah’s health centers, including reviewing and translating health center clinical, operational, and financial data to identify opportunities and advance problem analysis, creative solutions, and process redesign.
  • Oversee team projects and monitor success of team effectiveness and interventions utilizing project management tools.
  • Assist project leads in keeping projects well organized and support the leads in hosting meetings, huddles, and events to support project success.
  • Ensure the timely dissemination of results and conclusions from monitoring, evaluation, and quality improvement activities to leadership.
  • Develop working relationships, trust, and accountability across Utah’s health centers and key stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in local, state, regional, and national workgroups/committees, as appropriate.
  • Contribute to AUCH strategic planning, goal and objective development, and preparation of grant and work plan activities.
  • Assist with program planning, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, business, or related field. Experience and demonstrated knowledge of health center management and quality improvement may be substituted for advanced education.
  • Attention to detail with demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to complete projects on time with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
  • Must have proficiency in virtual web applications, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
  • Must be able to create quality reports and other documents.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, with the ability to multi-task and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Must be able to travel throughout Utah.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience implementing, monitoring, and evaluating quality initiatives.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Advanced education relating specifically to quality or performance improvement or related field.
  • Experience with health centers.
  • Knowledge of patient centered medical home and quality improvement/assurance standards.
  • Knowledge of NCQA, TJC, and AAAHC medical home and ambulatory care standards.
  • Experience working with patient registries and electronic health records.
