 Cache Valley Community Health Center in Providence, is looking for a full-time dentist who has the skills and experience to work with both kids and adults.  Seeking dentist that can provide high-quality dental care following the national guidelines to all BLCHC patients in a culturally competent manner. Provides care consistent with the BLCHC’s mission statements. Treats all staff and patients with respect, and supports teamwork and a positive work environment. Examines, diagnoses and treats patients; assess condition, utilizing x-rays, dental instruments, and other diagnostic procedures; cleans, fills, extracts, and replaces teeth; provides preventative dental services to patients and educate in oral and dental hygiene; request necessary tests and follow-up visits; refers patients to specialties as necessary. Assist the Medical Director in developing and implementing the dental program. Supervise dental residents and assist in their training.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform clinical services such as restorative, surgical, and various, and preventative services; understand and follow infection control procedures.

  • Review medical histories at each visit; consult with primary health care providers as needed.

  • Diagnose dental disease, and oral pathology, and develop a written treatment plan, prioritizing treatments.

  • Chart all pathologic conditions and report findings to the patient.

  • Explain the course of treatment to the patient; solicit patient input and agreement.

  • Balance treatment plan on patient’s needs and desires, and in conjunction with patient and clinic resources.

  • Ensure all prescriptions and advice regarding medications are following accepted community standards and BLCHC protocol.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of provider productivity standards.

  • Direct supervisory role over staff.

  • Ability to take care of many patients per clinical day.

  • Assume an active role in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective operation of the dental clinic.

  • Participate in community outreach efforts.

  • Participate in the emergency call system.

  • Perform other duties as assigned in consultation with the Dental Director/Dentist.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of dentistry.

  • Licensed in the state and DEA registration.

  • Completion of a GPR or AEGD is very desirable.

  • Previous dental experience is very desirable but not required.

  • Desire and the ability to work with diverse populations are required.

  • Possession of a license to practice dentistry in the State.

  • Working knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of dental diseases.

  • Working knowledge of the principles, standard practices, methods, and techniques of dentistry.

  • Familiar with standard practices, and procedures within dentistry.

  • Able to work independently, but also within a group; contribute to the efforts of the team and the organization as a whole.

  • Working knowledge of preventative dentistry and educational methodologies utilized in prevention.

  • Skill in oral operative techniques and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff.

  • Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels, and value systems.
