Position Description:

The Community Health Services AmeriCorps Program Director is responsible for managing the Utah Healthcare Corps (UHC) AmeriCorps program. UHC is an exciting direct service program that places AmeriCorps members throughout the state of Utah to support high need, underserved communities via Community Health Worker (CHW) services. The goal of UHC is to increase access to affordable healthcare and improve patient health outcomes by addressing social determinants of health. AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs, made up of three primary programs that each take a different approach to improving lives and fostering civic engagement. Members commit their time to address critical community needs. The AmeriCorps Program Director may also provide technical and administrative support for other projects at AUCH that support workforce development and health care access under the direction of the CHS Division Director. AmeriCorps Program Director responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Lead program-wide marketing and recruitment efforts, ensuring that all AmeriCorps member slots are filled, including managing UHC social media platforms, representing UHC at career fairs, screening and interviewing AmeriCorps candidates, and coordinating other program interviews
  • Manage the program’s CHW story bank and serve as the main story POC for stakeholders and funders
  • Update the program’s policies and procedures annually, in coordination with the CHS Division Director, and maintain updated files on AUCH’s document storage platform
  • Support the development and implementation of member and host site orientations, leading sessions as assigned
  • Manage and provide support to all members
  • Provide program management support by maintaining program trackers and files, conducting criminal history checks, collecting and reviewing activity logs and independent coursework, approving AmeriCorps member timesheets and reimbursements, and coordinating logistics for travel, trainings, and events for AmeriCorps members and other program staff
  • Manage the program’s equipment and gear inventory
  • Coordinate program continuing education trainings
  • Lead AmeriCorps member meetings and service projects
  • Lead AmeriCorps program orientation
  • Participate and represent UHC at AmeriCorps, community, and professional meetings and events as assigned
  • Support program data collection and analysis across the program’s data platforms
  • Compile source documentation for, and complete, program reports and invoice requests
  • Support proposal development efforts
  • Other duties as assigned

For more than 30 years, AUCH has represented Utah's health centers and their patients. As Utah’s federally designated Primary Care Association and Health Center Controlled Network, we provide over 12,000 hours of training and technical assistance to Utah’s health centers and affiliate members each year. Our members provide comprehensive, high-quality primary and preventive health care services to all individuals, with or without insurance, regardless of ability to pay. Health centers are community-based, patient-directed organizations that eliminate geographical and financial barriers and serve populations with limited access to care. In support of our members and the people they serve, AUCH helps reduce barriers to health care through health promotion, community engagement, education, and policy analysis. AUCH receives federal, state, and private program support to improve the quality of and access to comprehensive health care services.

Reporting to: CHS Division Director 

Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000

Qualifications and Requirements: The following requirements must be met to be considered for the program:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related/applicable field required (related experience will be considered in substitution for academic attainment)
  • Experience in AmeriCorps program/project coordination or management preferred
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a team player
  • High level of proactivity and self-motivation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and logically
  • Ability to think critically and anticipate next steps
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize, and expedite work projects
  • Flexibility to respond to a variety of requests/needs/issues simultaneously
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks
  • Ability to travel statewide, and occasionally out-of-state, as needed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
