The Association for Utah Community Health TeleHealth Program works to connect AUCH member organizations through videoconferencing,
telemedicine, and online resources to increase access to distance learning, peer interaction and specialized health care.
Video-conferencing
AUCH members can participate in various interactive distance-learning opportunities
including participating in meetings with their peers while saving travel time and expense.
Teleophthalmology
The leading cause
of blindness in Utah is from diabetic retinopathy, a progressive
disease often seen in diabetic patients.
A recently purchased
camera is allowing centers to provide detailed eye
examinations of diabetic patients, identify the disease early and
reduce the incidence of blindness in Utah's population.AUCH provides training and support for its members to participate in
this
retinal-screening program.
Teleradiology
AUCH is in the process of implementing its
Teleradiology program, which will enable member health centers to send
x-rays electronically to a specialist for interpretation.
