[ Programs & Services ] CLINICAL SERVICES

AUCH works with federal and state entities to facilitate implementation of clinical quality improvement efforts among its member organizations. In addition to other services, the Clinical Care Program assists health centers with the process of accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO).

Clinical Practice Coordination

AUCH supports its members in several initiatives to continuously enhance the quality of clinical practice with a focus on preventive health care.

With funding from the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC), AUCH began participating in the Together for Tots Initiative in 1995 to improve immunization rates for infants and children. In 2002, an increased financial comclinic imagemitment from the Utah Department of Health (UDOH) allowed AUCH to maintain efforts for immunization of infants and children, as well as expand immunization activities to all children, adolescents and adults. AUCH also collaborates with state, local, and community agencies to focus clinical quality on a number of preventive health issues, including cancer prevention and asthma.

Chronic Care & Clinical Quality Coordination

AUCH supports its members in the implementation of the Bureau of Primary Health Care’s Health Disparities Collaboratives.  Currently, member organizations are actively improving and tracking quality indicator measures of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and depression care.  With funding assistance from the UDOH Diabetes Prevention and Control and Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Programs, AUCH promotes sustaining and expanding Health Disparities Collaborative activities within all member organizations.  These organizations strive to achieve excellence in practice through the transformation of primary and preventive clinical practice via a Planned Care Model, improved health outcomes for underserved populations, and the development of strategic partnerships.

AUCH also supports member organizations in other quality-related activities, such as ambulatory accreditation, patient safety initiatives, Federal Tort Claims Act, Risk Management and Pay for Performance initiatives.
